“Poverty is a veil that obscures the face of greatness.” This quote by Khalil Gibran clearly states how significant poverty is. Poverty conceals the real life world for people struggling with lack of money. Due to scarcity of money, children can’t be educated in developing countries like Africa, India and Bangladesh. Since the children aren’t being educated, they are looked down upon and are forced to suffer through child labour. If the children are fortunate, they might get paid for working at factories and such, for agonizing hours. In that case, families would prefer that their children work instead of getting education because their families will be earning money instead of spending. Poverty also causes many people to start committing crimes like theft and murder, in order to get what they want for free. Poverty doesn’t just affect the citizens in the country but it also affects the country as a whole by decreasing the quality of life in the country. In conclusion, poverty is the reason why many countries and people can’t face greatness.
